SWING

 

Swing music became wildly popular during the 1950s as well, starting with famous singers such as Frank Sinatra. With him, it is thought, started the modern fan hysteria that people know all too well. 

 

 

Frank Sinatra

Frank Sinatra was one of the most popular entertainers of the 20th century, forging a career as an award-winning singer and film actor. Born in Hoboken, New Jersey, on December 12, 1915, Frank Sinatra rose to fame singing big band numbers. In the '40s and '50s, he had a dazzling array of hit songs and albums and went on to appear in dozens of films, winning an Oscar for From Here to Eternity. He left behind a massive catalog of works that includes "Love and Marriage" and "New York, New York." Between 1943 and 1946, Sinatra's solo career blossomed as the singer charted 17 different Top 10 singles.  Sinatra was also known for his unique voice. Sinatra overall did a lot of songs, but a very recognizable one includes his song “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”. His most iconic song is Fly Me To The Moon" and can be heard to the right.
