JEWELRY

• The jewelry of the 1950s was similar to the 40s in the type of stone, but the execution was completely different. While the 40s jewelry style was solid, heavy, and very polished, the 50s jewelry style was renovated in order to accustom the new clothing style as well. The 50s jewelry style was light, airy, and textual. With the gradually lower necklines came shorter necklaces and chokers. Earrings became more elaborate.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

UNDERGARMENTS

EYEWEAR

• These spectacles were frequently inlaid with diamante or scattered glitter dust

• Hats are often decorated with a fresh ornament such as flowers, an autumnal bunch of acorns and leaves, or a bunch of cherries

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

GLOVES

• Gloves were worn everywhere

• Clean gloves were also the hallmark of a lady and white or cream were the most favoured gloves

• Gloves worn in so many colours were usually made of cotton as this was more affordable than leather gloves or the newer nylon and they could be washed very easily

• Dents and Pittards were popular glove names, but women could also make their own gloves
