CARHOPS

Car hops originated in 1921, in Dallas, Texas when two men saw that many men were coming to restaurants, but many didn’t want to get out of their cars. Striving for convenience that would keep customers there as well as bringing more customers in, they started a ‘Car Hopping business’, where men would go to the cars that simply had to park at the restaurant and order their food. At this point, car hopping was effective but not popular. The popularity of car hopping came after World War II, where the presence of men was scarce, so women had to maintain the homefront. Women ended up being an even better alternative to this because companies soon figured out that more people would come to a pretty face. So women effectively replaced men circa 1941-1945, and then the business of car hopping picked up circa 1952-1955. From here, car hopping businesses began to build off of their fundamentals for this idea. Businesses began to add themes to their employees. This idea of adding themes to a business in order to catch a passing eye was -and is- known as gamesmanship and included many themes  such as a Cheerleader theme, a military theme (Used before 1950 not as a form of eye-catching material, but as a form of respect for the soldiers which then  became a theme because the veterans would be drawn to it), an airline theme, or a space age theme (The space age theme only became popular in the late 1960s to the early 1970s because the U.S. successfully landed on the moon in 1969)
