JAZZ
Jazz flourished during the 1950s as well. Musical historians believe that the moder jazz movement began in this decade, with musicians such as Louis Armstrong and Dizzy Gillespie.
Dizzy Gillespie
Dizzy Gillespie was a jazz musician in the 1950s. He is known as one of the best, if not the best, jazz trumpeters in history, and combined scat singing, trumpet, and cheery mood to create the movement of bebop for which he is famed. Bebop was the first modern jazz style. At first, bebop was not considered to be its own musical style; instead it was considered to be a lame outgrowth of swing. Gillespie's popularity and skill made bebop have a wider acceptance to people, and his creation of a big band focused only on bebop made bebop more popular. All in all, he is considered to be the pioneer of bebop jazz and a leading figure throughout misic history. The the right is one of his famed songs, "Salt Peanuts."
